Who runs this site, which address to use for what, and how long we take to reply.

Who we are

I Want Some Food is an independent site based in Australia, run by a small team.

Email is the only channel we monitor — there is no shopfront and no phone line. It is a small operation, so you are writing to a person rather than a call centre. If a matter genuinely needs a postal address, ask and we will provide one.

Which address to use

  • Anything at all hello@iwantsomefood.com. Bugs, a wrong recipe, a question, feedback, a moderation decision you want reviewed, an accessibility problem, or a complaint.
  • Privacy and your data hello@iwantsomefood.com. Getting a copy of what we hold, correcting it, deleting your account, or a privacy complaint.
  • Copyright hello@iwantsomefood.com. Material of yours published here without permission, or permission to reuse ours.

If you are not sure, use the first one. We would rather route it internally than have you guess.

What to include

A link to the page, what you expected, and what happened instead. For a problem with a recipe, the recipe name and the ingredient or step. For anything on your account, write from the email address the account uses — it saves a round trip proving who you are. A screenshot helps more than a description of a screenshot.

How long we take

  • Anything about an allergen or a safety risk in a recipe: we look at it as soon as we see it, ahead of everything else.
  • Copyright notices: acknowledged within about two business days, with the process set out in copyright and takedowns.
  • Privacy requests: acknowledged quickly, answered within 30 days, as the privacy policy explains.
  • Everything else: usually within a few days. If something has gone quiet, send it again — occasionally a message really does get lost.

Things we cannot help with

We cannot give you medical, dietary or food-safety advice, tell you whether food in your fridge is safe, or help in an emergency. For urgent health matters in Australia, call 000, or contact your doctor or healthdirect.

We also cannot restore your pantry, meal plans or cooking journal if you clear your browser data. That information only exists on your device — see what gets stored on your device for how to export it first.

If we cannot sort it out between us

Tell us you are unhappy and what would fix it, and give us a chance to respond. If you are still not satisfied, you can take a consumer complaint to the ACCC or your state or territory consumer affairs or fair trading office, and a privacy complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. The privacy policy has the OAIC details.

Before you start cooking

Your pantry, saved recipes and meal plans are stored on this device so the site works — that part can't be switched off. Google Analytics counts page visits so we can see what people open. Separately, we can count anonymous feature usage in our own database. That part is your call, and it stays off unless you say yes.
