Ground Clove
The dried flower bud of the clove tree, Syzygium aromaticum, ground to a powder. Whole cloves are those buds left intact.
Origin
Native to the Maluku Islands and now grown in other tropical islands.
Flavour
Hot, sweet, and numbing. Very strong.
How to use it
Use a pinch in baking, ham glazes, and spice blends. It overwhelms a dish quickly.
Storage
Airtight and dark.
