Sunflower Oil

Oil pressed from sunflower seeds. Refined oil is pale and neutral. Cold-pressed oil keeps more of the seed's flavour.

Origin

The sunflower is a New World plant. The oil is pressed wherever the crop is grown, notably in eastern Europe.

Flavour

Refined oil is almost tasteless. Unrefined oil tastes of seeds.

How to use it

Use refined oil for frying and roasting. Use a cold-pressed oil where you want the flavour.

Storage

Cool, dark, and sealed. Refrigerate an unrefined bottle.
